Checks the form: the title can't be empty, the release date must be a real YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD date, and a credit row with a first name needs a last name (a single-word pen name goes in the last name). Blank credit rows are fine. The language is picked from a list, so it isn't checked.
